The Dapper Dustpan
by: Yanko Design, 2014-01-29 08:01:18 UTC
When you think of a dustpan and broom, chances are you imagine a flimsy, plastic, unsightly object that you hide as far back in the closet as possible! The Alfred, however, is one you can be proud of! No, it doesn’t light up… or cheer you on… in fact, there’s really no new functionality at all. But it is durable, made of quality material, and just plain nice to look at.

Gironde Extendible Table by Mediodesign
by: design milk, 2014-01-24 15:00:18 UTC
Barcelona-based designer and architect Juan Pablo Quintero designed a custom, extendable table for Mediodesign. Focusing on geometry and functionality, the Gironde Extendible Table is built much like a house would be, with a structural system that ensures the stability of the design.
The design is composed of four triangular pieces that are hidden below the central square tabletop that flip out for extra space. One of the doubled up legs swivels out to support the extended leaf.
The table is made from finished plywood birch that’s covered in Formica® with a heat-resistant ceramic tile inlaid in the center to place hot pots when it’s time to eat.

A Three-Legged Chair That Neatly Folds Flat
by: design milk, 2014-01-24 19:00:19 UTC
With a few simple movements, Sedia3 (or Chair3 – sedia is Italian for chair), by DORODESIGN, transforms from a three-dimensional chair to something that is almost two-dimensional. The modern chair sits on three legs and requires no tools to flatten or build it.
Made of wood (except one metallic pivot pin), the space-saving chair’s seat surface is lifted from the rear and pushed towards the front to release the legs and the central crosspieces.
Once flat, the chair can even be hung on the wall for storage by the built-in hook that’s cut into the spine.
