Passion House: Prefab Modular Housing
by: design milk, 2013-09-03 17:00:45 UTC
Passion Group, Architect 11, and architect Eero Endjärv worked together to design a series of prefab modular homes and the first prototype is now complete. Passion House M1, is the smallest of the bunch, but it still boasts 40 square meters (or 430 square feet) of space – plenty of room for an individual or a couple.
The house is built in one piece and comes fully equipped, including the concrete foundation attached. The interior comes fully designed with furniture and appliances already installed. This model comes in two variations – one with a larger sauna or the other with a main bedroom instead of a sauna.
All in, the house takes one to two days to set up, with most of the time being spent preparing a gravel pad for the house to sit on and hooking up the utilities. Each Passion House meets strict standards as far as energy consumption goes in the Nordic countries. The outer skeleton of the house is built to withstand wind, snow, and rain because it’s built with similarities of a stone or concrete house.
The cantilevered roof protects the interior from too much sun and also gives shelter to the exterior porch.
Huge sliding glass doors open the interior up to the outdoors while creating more square footage.
Storage is built in everywhere you look, including above the pull out sofa. The cabinets are a continuation from the ones placed in the kitchen.
A Murphy bed is used to provide more space when you’re not sleeping.
The sofa pulls out to a bed as well providing more sleeping options for guests.
