Vertical Cemetery Could Provide Norway With More Space to Bury the Dead
by: Inhabitat , 2013-12-16 06:00:11 UTC
As time goes on, graveyard space is becoming more limited – and Norwegian designer Martin McSherry just proposed plans for a skyscraper cemetery to house the dead. The Royal Danish School of Architecture student created the vertical graveyard to provide a solution to the growing demand for burial space in Norway. The tower is encased within a metal exoskeleton and it has graveyards on every floor that provide space for eternal rest in the sprawling urban sky.

Cheery Recycled Silk Chairs From Meb Rure
by: design milk, 2013-12-11 20:00:42 UTC
Don’t you just love the look of these bright and cheery chairs? Meb Rure uses recycled silk yarn from Nepal as upholstery, while the wood is made of American white oak. The ethnic-inspired set consists of a chair, ottoman, and stool. To make sure it’s extra comfortable, the silk balls are filled with a sponge to ensure a comfortable and cozy sitting experience. To make it even easier to transport and decrease its carbon footprint, the legs are easily assembled/disassembled by only one hand.

A Simple Wooden Lamp Named Bob
by: design milk, 2013-12-09 20:00:37 UTC
Bob would be the perfect addition to your desk or side table, don’t you think? The table lamp, designed by Roman Shpelyk of the Ukraine, is mostly made of wood with a bit of metal and Plexiglas thrown in.
The goal was to create a simple design but with interesting details that are meant to entice you, from the bends of the arm, to the base that holds the lamp up. It kinda looks like a magnifying glass, doesn’t it?

Soft Cork Bowls That You Can Adjust
by: design milk, 2013-12-09 17:00:12 UTC
I’m dying over these ‘Adjust-a-Bowl’ Soft Cork Bowls from bambuShop. They’re made from a cork fabric that adjusts to hold just about everything. If you think about it, all of your stuff isn’t the same shape or size yet bowls always stay the same hard, domed shape and don’t bend or mold to fit what they hold.
Luckily someone decided to think outside the box, or bowl, to come up with a solution that adjusts to fit its cargo. Use the cork bowls to hold fruit, bread, soaps, toiletries, or anything else you can think of.
Shape or fold the sides, or even roll the edges down to modify its size.
The cork fabric is anti-microbial, as well as water- and stain-resistant, and easily cleans by throwing it in the washing machine.
