Sometimes you are touched by the beauty of things, often so simple that you wonder why nobody thought of it before. Trap Light is the result of an exciting collaboration between Gionata Gatto (Pedalator, Urban Buds) and Mike Thompson (Latro, Blood Lamp), proposing a radical new approach to lighting design. By utilising photoluminescent pigments to capture escaping light, Trap Light converts waste energy back into visible light.
Each lamp is hand-blown with the photoluminescent pigments enclosed within two layers of murano glass
Completely cord and battery-free, the Trap Light utilizes special photoluminescent pigments to absorb “waste energy” from surrounding light sources, which it then emits as a soft ambient glow at night. A thirty minute ‘charge’ of recycled light from a traditional incandescent or LED light bulb provides up to eight hours of clean, green lighting.
This is such a great example of sustainable design!
