PIE studio uses only renewable and sustainable natural resources, recycled/recyclable synthetic materials and non-toxic additives in its designs and products. PIE studio sustainable materials choices are water hyacinth, liana, bamboo, rattan, polyethylene, aluminum, stainless steel and composite boards (made from natural waste). Some of these selected are renewable; on the other hand, some of these beautiful natural materials are considered harmful to the ecosystem. Plants like water hyacinth and liana naturally and
rapidly grown in abundance without having any specific usage. These plants are often cut down and destroyed to help keep the balance in our ecosystem. PIE studio takes these wasteful natural materials to create its Eco Friendly Furniture, products and spaces. In doing so, PIE studio is helping the environment by putting these menacing plants into good use. Using nature as the primary inspiration to the designs, PIE studio team carefully crafted each piece by hand.
In 2006 PIE’s Steel Tongue chair became a permanent collection to the Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum – Smithsonian Institution NYC; In 2008, PIE studio was named “Best of the Best” and received an award by Florida International Magazine. PIE’s Sushi Daybed received Best of Year Award by the Interior Design Magazine in 2008 for outdoor seating.
