Sustainability Aspects: Make use of unused capacity

The Story

clean energy project

The World Community Grid, powered by IBM, is designed to harness the unused computing power of the world’s PCs and laptops for research on critical humanitarian issues like cancer, AIDS and muscular dystrophy or find solution for clean energy or nutritious rice

Since 2003, all across the planet, hundreds of organizations and people have lined up to lend their PCs to help form one of the world’s largest supercomputers. WCG brings people together from accross the globe to create this world’s non-profit largest computing grid benefiting humanity. It does this by pooling surplus computer processing power.

The WCG believes that innovation combined with visionary scientific research and large-scale volunteerism can help make the planet smarter. And I believe this as well and am a member to support WCG.

For more information about the WCG and how to install please take a look at: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/
