Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature’s time-tested patterns and strategies. The goal is to create products, processes, and policies—new ways of living—that are well-adapted to life on earth over the long haul. The core idea is that nature has already solved many of the problems we are grappling with. Animals, plants, and microbes are the consummate engineers.
Ask Nature is a extensive database of solution nature found for problems and processes not unlike the one’s in our daily live. A great source for inspiration!
Why not enter the Biomimicry Design Challenge. The challenge is open to teams of students and professionals anywhere in the world. Finalists and winners selected by our expert jury are eligible to win prize money as well as assistance in bringing their solution to the global marketplace via an Accelerator program. At the end of the Accelerator one team will be awarded the $100,000 “Ray of Hope” prize, endowed the Ray C. Anderson Foundation.
