When considering sustainability in the field of lighting, the first aspect that generally springs to mind is low energy consumption, but there are other aspects that plays a major sustainable role like waste reduction, recyclability, the use of materials & resources and the effect on building and design practices. The webinar will highlight the economical, ecological and social benefits of energy efficient lighting.
Harry Verhaar will present this webseminar. He has, in the past nine years, been the architect of the lighting strategy on energy and climate change, which has resulted in a global momentum on phasing out of old lighting technologies for street-ligthing; non-residential buildings and homes (incandescent light bulbs). Furthermore responsible for the ‘off-grid lighting’ or Base of the Pyramid program at Philips Lighting, aimed at supporting sustainable pathways for developing countries. He is an active member of a number of partnership networks, among which The Climate Group, WBCSD and the World Green Building Council.
