Sustainability Aspects: Knowledge and Life Cycle Analysis comparisons between different materials

The Story

Blue Button label

Each business has its own sustainability challenges. Fabric and garment industries have been active in making their business more sustainable . Made by hase developed tools to help the industry improve their wet processes which are usually consuming a lot of water and lead to pollution of waterways. They also asked Brown & Wilmanns Environmental, LLC to perform Life Cycle Analysis on different fabric materials and categorize them from low to high impact.

MADE-BY is a European not-for-profit organisation with a mission to improve environmental and social conditions in the fashion industry. MADE-BY was launched in 2004 in direct response to rising consumer concern in Europe over social and environmental issues in the fashion industry.

Driven by a commitment to sustainable fashion, they work with fashion and textile brands who want to improve sustainability across their entire supply chain, from raw materials through to finished products. They help to communicate the brand’s progress in a transparent way that is easily understood by the consumer, the media and the industry through tools that include our Scorecards, the Blue Button Label and a Track&Trace system.

Partners are Ted Baker, Kuyichi, 100% Organic Cotton, Jackpot and others
