Sustainability Aspects: non-chrome tanning, unsealed surface,

Colour Sea

The hides of the ‘Easy Being Green’ collection are produced in a sustainable way and are safe for the environment and human health. The main difference lies in the fact that after tanning the leathers remain unsealed; the surface remains natural and open, instead of applying the often used plastic type coating.

The hides come from free-range grass fed Alpine dairy cows. They are not salted, but instead are sent to the tannery on ice. The hides are vegetable tanned, all chrome-free. Dyed colours utilize safe materials, non heavy metal and low VOC dyes. For tanning, the producer uses half the water of conventional chrome leather. The water used is processed to the highest standards and returned to the water system where it is constantly monitored. The tannery is tested and declared without chemical traces.

The hides are available in 11, also bright, colours and 1.4 to 1.6 mm thick. The hides average 60 SF and pass UFAC + CAL TB 117.
