Zero-Loft™ Aerogels insulation is thin, compression-resistant, breathable and waterproof.
It is made of 99.8% air, air is locked in a solid material and cannot escape even under 600 psi.
It provides 39 times more insulating capacity than the best fiberglass insulation
It is chemically identical yet 3,000 times less dense than glass.
Unlike many other materials like dawn ZeroLoft doesn’t need loft to insulate. Zeroloft can be compressed and thin and still insulates. It can be washed normally which makes it perfect for outdoor purposes.
And since it consists mainly out of air I assume it’s LCA looks much better than that of the alternatives even dawn since geese need to eat as well as you need lot’s of geese for a jacket. ZeroLoft is made of silicate gels, non-solvable and floating in water as well as non-toxic. See there website for more explanation on aerogels and the material sheet of zeroloft
