Created from sustainably sourced softwood, Accoya® matches or exceeds the durability, stability and beauty of the very best tropical hardwoods.

The Accoya® wood production process takes sustainably-sourced, fast growing softwood and, in a non toxic acetylation process that ‘enables nature’, creates a new durable class 1, stable and beautiful product – that has the very best environmental credentials.

A new world of high performance, sustainable, low maintenance products – including windows, doors, decking, cladding and glulam structural beams – is opened up by Accoya® wood. The exceptional properties of durability, stability, strength and beauty have even led to Accoya® wood being used as the main construction material in a heavy traffic road bridge with a highly original design.

Accoya® – is helping to protect the world’s precious hardwood resources and is guaranteed for 50 years in exterior use and 25 years when used in the ground. This long life also provides an added benefit – helping to reduce carbon emissions.

Production phase

• All Accoya® wood is produced from well managed sustainable sources including FSC, PEFC and other
  regionally certified woods. Unfortunately most of it is grown in New Zealand while production is in Europe. Transport has a negative impact on the environment
• Use of abundantly available, fast growing source species such as Radiata Pine.
• The Accoya® wood manufacturing process is nontoxic and adds nothing to the wood that does not already naturally occur in it.

Use phase

• Enhanced durability, facilitating a longer lifespan, improved carbon sequestration potential
• Outstanding dimensional stability and improved hardness, resulting in lower maintenance frequency
• Superior thermal insulation, yielding energy conservation advantages for applications including windows and doors.

End-of-life phase

• Accoya® is perceived as non toxic and 100% biodegradable and received Cradle to Cradle Gold certification.
• Fully reusable and recyclable. Reuse is recommended but Accoya® wood may be safely incinerated or composted.
